An adorable at-home documentary lifestyle session in Virginia Beach with some trampoline jumping too!
What could be better than a family portrait session in your own back yard? I had such a great afternoon photographing the Jones family in their lovely Virginia Beach home. Their two little daughters were beyond precious, and I’d say there is definitely some modeling in the future for their oldest! Â She was so sweet and happy, and I really think she had a ball. Â Oh, and don’t get me STARTED on PJ, the sweetest yellow lab I’ve ever met. Â He watches the children with such intent, like a perfect furry guardian. We had to include him in the photos since technically he is Buck and Mariya’s first born. Â If you don’t already know, I am partial to love dogs more than people – so whenever we get to bring the pup along for the session it is like a bonus highlight for me!
I’m often asked to give out my recommendations for family sessions and engagements, but honestly – some of the best and MOST significant family pictures are taken right at home!  When you think about it, there is a lot of sense to the theory.  The kids are already comfortable being in a place in which they are familiar. Parents don’t have to worry about packing everything under the sun with them to drag the little ones to be photographed. If you need a touch up to hair, makeup, grab an outfit change, all you have to do is pop inside and then it’s back to business! What’s even better?  The pictures become even more meaningful because they capture a family in the most natural environment. Your home is where you grow, love, cry, and learn. Twenty years later, a photo of yourself cradling your favorite toy is sure to pull at your heartstrings with nostalgia.
The trampoline jumping was my favorite part of the day to photograph. It was such a unique family activity to capture. I mean, just look at the baby! She is bursting with happiness bouncing in her mom and dad’s arms. That is a moment of pure joy, and that is exactly why I love this amazing job of mine.
