A military engagement session that literally has everything!
What a better place for a military engagement session than to take a little trip to historical USS Wisconsin in downtown Norfolk! What a story with these two!
Texas A&M Aggies Love: How they met
Cody and Ninfa have a fascinating story in that they technically have two first dates! They met in college at Texas A&M Corps of Cadets, but initially denied feelings for each other because of Cody being her upperclassman. Oh, the forbidden love! After Cody was out of the Corps, they decided to take a second chance. They have been together ever since!
Hauge Lock Bridge: The Proposal
Before dinner, he told me that there was a love lock bridge in Norfolk, and he wanted to put a lock on it for us. He said he wanted to intertwine two locks together, and I didn’t understand the logistics of that, but I went along with it and wrote my name on a small padlock he already bought.
We had a lovely dinner at the restaurant Voilá and across the street from the restaurant was the Hague bridge. I was ready to put our locks on the bridge, but he was stalling for some reason. He then told me that he bought a dummy lock for me and he had one made already. He pulled out this MASSIVE titanium steel lock that was rust resistant, bolt cutter resistant, waterproof, basically that they would have to tear down the bridge before they could get this lock off! Made my dinky little lock look shameful! He handed it to me, and he had our names and the date inscribed on the front with “together forever” down the sides. I was ready to go ahead and put the lock on the bridge, but he kept telling me, “Wait, look at it” Which I was!
But it wasn’t until I turned the lock around and on the back, he wrote, “will you marry me?” My face dropped and as soon as he noticed I read what it said, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It took me a second to register everything that was going on and the first thing I said was, “are you serious??” He was still kneeling and responded, “Uh yea!” I, of course, said yes gave him a huge hug! It also took me about another minute before I even looked at the ring. He had to tell me, “don’t you want to see the ring?” I put it on; I LOVE IT! Then, after he had already proposed, a girl stopped at where we were on the bridge and asked us, “Hey would you guys like me to take a picture of you two?” Out of the blue! We didn’t ask her or anything; she was on the phone, and she put her grandmother on hold so she could take our picture! Without her, we wouldn’t have ANY pictures of that night. Then!
After she had left, a girl was riding her bike past us and as she rode by she shouted, “propose! Propose!” And I then yelled back, “he just did!” She then almost ran into a light post and responded, “wait really?”
Me: “yea!”
Her “OMG Congrats!”
Me: “Thanks!”
We went back to the same restaurant and asked for a champagne toast and enjoyed the rest of our night celebrating downtown.
Their connection together is evident, and we ended up having such a fun time capturing these memories together!
